Reference architecture / Not delivered agency work
Offline operations with supervised sync
Reference architecture for inventory work during connection loss, with visible conflict review and accounting exports. Design targets, not delivered outcomes.
Illustrative scenario
A warehouse shift records picks during a connection outage; a supervisor resolves conflicts when the devices reconnect.
This anonymized blueprint describes a reference architecture. It is not an award, customer case study, or delivered system. Targets below are design intentions, not measured results.
The work should not get stuck here.
- A dropped connection interrupts work at the point of use.
- Inventory adjustments lack a clear explanation or audit trail.
- Scanner, label, and accounting workflows operate separately.
- Conflicting offline updates have no agreed resolution path.
Start with the workflow. Build in increments.
- Observe receiving, picking, stock adjustment, and purchasing steps before modeling the workflow.
- Design a PWA with a bounded local queue and supervised synchronization.
- Prototype scanner and label hardware alongside the workflow.
- Define accounting exports and reconciliation as first-class deliverables.
A reference foundation.

Supervised offline synchronization
Device queue → Review & resolve → Authorized sync → Server audit
Pattern illustration. Hosting, identity, storage, and control requirements are selected for each engagement.
Controls to agree during design.
- Agree what may be stored on a device and when it expires.
- Use explicit conflict handling, approval boundaries, and synchronization history.
- Document device loss, failed sync, and recovery procedures.
Routine changes within your control.
Proposed configurable areas, subject to the agreed architecture, role model, and acceptance criteria.
Plan the exit path from the start.
Offer source, deployment instructions, hardware integration notes, data exports, and tested offline recovery procedures.

Targets are proposed acceptance intentions, not delivered performance results.
- Staff can complete the agreed offline tasks during an outage.
- Conflicts enter a visible review queue instead of silently overwriting records.
- A supervisor can trace an adjustment from device to final record.
